Force CHs to at least mark a design as "seen"
In order to not treat designers unfairly or leave them in the dark a fair system must exist that forces CHs to at least look at the designs, give stars or comments. It has happened that designers have done work and entered late, but within the timeframe and a winner had been selected. This is unfair and a waste of time. A designer should know if the CH saw the design and there should be some kind of mark or acknowledgement for this. It is ok to not leave a comment if there are many designs, but one should know…

Award 2nd and 3rd places, all contests should be guaranteed
Designers spend their lives to create for 99designs, so they deserve be awarded for 2nd and 3rd places.
All contests should be guaranteed as there no work without payment, designers are not a "crowd" or "herd", we are humans and deserve payment for our hard work.

Feedback on contest holder
Same principle as on ebay, where you can leave feedback on a seller's reliability.
Would be nice to review how a contest holder has done in the past, considering feedback and payment etc.1,323 votes -
Should have a friend list
Maybe we can have a friend list in our message sections and should be able to add any designer as a friend or some thing.

Lower the commission 99designs takes from designers
The case is, 99Designs takes a HUGE commission from designers. For example, designers may get only $300 out of $495 fee that CH pays (in most simple case out of $295 fee the designer will get only $200). That's a 40% commission. Contest Holders should be informed about this also, at least.

Design protection
Here is my suggestion to protect designs.
All designs should have a 99design automatic watermark on it in and only the contest owner should be able to see the design with no watermark.
This will prevent public to steal design.
Hope this will be implement.
Also, all past contest should not appear in the search engine. All contest should not appear on Google.
Thanks

Allow only designers who are participating in a contest to comment
Sometimes designers who are not participating in a contest, write comments like voting for x design (obviously friends, who intended to guide the CH to choose a design) or saying how good it is...
In other ocassions I saw some people who advertise webistes (for example the user “Tenaris” who sell web templates), and never entered a contest, look at this comment:
Tenaris:
“hey CH! watch out with these templates... don't let them fool you
http://tinyurl.com/yc7jkzf”I suggest that nobody can leave a comment in the “discussion” unless is particpating in the contest.
And if you want to ask…627 votes -

Add more requirements to Verify the Identity of participants
I am sick and tired of all of these fake profiles! You will be winning at one point and "someone" who just got a profile will win on their FIRST try! This has happened a lot on this site. Someone (I Think) from the company or a friend will see everybody's logo and make something, if not exactly like it, then extremely close to yours! Also after that contest, they never even log back on. I think this needs to be stopped and fast! I hate losing to fake profiles don't you?

"Read Brief" opens on same page as main contest's page.
This isn't a really big thing , but what if the "Read Brief" will just collapse/ expand when you click it? No need to load a new page?
P.S. or is there a setting for this already but I haven't noticed it?

Tip Jar
I am a CH and would like the option to tip designers that I do not choose but were instrumental in the process.

Three strikes rule for contest holders
I think CH who have abandoned and unhealhty contests should be given three chances afterwhich they will be banned from the site. I participated in a water contest recently and the guy seems to have done a runner (his other contest is alos the same)

Clear Gold Member criteria
Clear Gold Member criteria
I like the idea of having Gold Contest, but the criteria for considering Gold it's at least unclear: http://99designs.com/help/how-do-i-become-a-gold-designer
I saw many designer complaint about this, and also some 99d replies saying this is about "quality” or "hand work".Take a look a this profile: http://99designs.com/users/948630 (this is not about this guy maybe he's an excellent, just pointed as a sample). Only got 20 days in the 99d community, no winnings, no portfolio, only 3 entered contest and he is already a Gold Member.
My proposal:
Take a few clear requirements, give X pts to each,…342 votes -
Add ability to favorite or bookmark a designer
After reading the recent article about designabot on sitepoint, I wanted to make sure I remembered his username. I went to his portfolio, but there's no way for the CH to "bookmark" or "favorite" a designer so they can later invite the designer to a contest.

Make CH's specify explicitly if they want coding
I know that "There are officially no coded contests on 99designs" – but who cares about official, if there are still plenty of CH's who speak like: "We want a website that..."
Every time I read something like this, I can't figure out whether they want just a PSD or they want a website, coded and ready to go - and many people still want coding, despite the "no coded contests" rule...
Come on, many CH's do not even know that design has to be coded, or how much work is involved in coding. How am I supposed to manage…261 votes -
Refunds Not Allowed When CH Abandons Contest
I think that contest holders who abandon their contests should not be able to request refunds. It's one thing if they are actively participating, giving feedback and star ratings. But if they just abandon the contest, I don't think they should have the right to ask for their money back. The contest, in such an instance, failed largely at their own hand.

Please add some amount for all finalists designers ( i mean at least get $10 to 20 ). I think all designers get the benefit.

Designer Dashboard to organize participation in the site, active contests, feedback received etc...
Basically I think that having your contest section in your profile separated into "active contests" you are in and "ended/won" contests could keep things a little cleaner and let us keep track of what contests we should keep an eye on a little better.

Split the prize amount among designers for projects under review more than 6 months.
As per 99Design system, when a CH started a contest he/ she have to deposit the whole amount (including 99Designs fees). In few cases the prize amount refunded. But, I can see few projects which are still under review after 1 year or more.
So, my question to 99Designs is that where the money goes for such contest?
My suggestion is either refund or split the prize amount among participating designers.
Few contests are given below which are not refunded and still under review after 1 or nearly 2 years.
