Forums for community
planned

A forum where designers and contest holders can post and comment in threaded discussions, separate to the contest section.

  1. Its a good idea. Wasnt there one beefore? But it was kinda out of the way. Make it a visible link at all times so people will want to go. I remember posting a few times on the old one. There were like 20 people there and hardly no topics. Thats not very good when there are 3,000 users on a site.

  2. yes, there should be forum. Why not just install, PhpBB which easy very, very easy to setup? it takes only about 20 minutes to install it..
A forum is essential for community building.

  3. it's important.. the common sense of originality in 99designs is becoming more and more biased.. because the community is growing.. i don't know how much new member register in a day.. and it confusing when they talk about design "THING" in message board.. not to mentioned annoying. it really need something to do about this.. forum discussion can make things more clearer...

  4. I think it would be a great way to promote communication and more efficient contests.
Lots of knowledge, wisdom, and FAQs can be shared as well to help the 99 community grow more pleaasantly.
as far as PHPBB, true its simple and quick, but there's way too many security threats with that board. Im sure 99designs has the ability to code/secure their own unique board.

  5. We need this forum up and running asap :-)

Any word on when this may be implemented.

  6. Okay, I am the baby around here, or the greenest behind the ears of whatever... like, I have no professional experience at all. I am completely self-taught, and have pathetic software.... I would love nothing more than to be able to pick everyone's brain and learn. There! Now you know the real reason I have an account here. :-p

  7. Forum discussion will help us learn that the "Thing" actually has a name, and teach us to use names appropriately.

  8. i'm really agree for everybody helping each other, but what i disregards is someone start to flaming, commenting such unnecessary against each other and it really not a constructive critiscm.

  9. Sounds great to me.

  10. You will need to have moderators of course, but that shouldn't be too hard to get dedicated volunteers, who have built a reputation on this site. I recommend Invision board over the popular vBulletin or the free phpbb. I don't care for either. www.invisionpower.com
