Add hide message feature to the discussion area
There are way to many non contest related messages that the host should be able to hide but they still be there as well as double posts from web browser issues. It was a great feature of the late Sitepoint contest and first draft of 99designs and needs to be brought back.

I see your point Nadia. I just feel that any comments that do not pertain to the actual design task should be directed another way. Hence using the PM option for any disputes etc. etc.

..maybe once moderators are allocated, they get permission to 'hide' a comment, but the final removal process would be done by admin staff if required. This at least hides any offending posts, but the final decision as to whether totally remove is made by 99designs staff. Just throwing an idea out there :-)

The main comments area does need to be open to designers, for example, what about when you need to ask a question pertaining to the brief... better to ask there, so everyone gets the benefit of the answer. I guess if there is no other way to remove comments, the old system of show/hide is better than none at the moment :-) ..... (more to follow)...

How about we stop comments from designers in the Feedback section all together. Let the CH make general comments pertainig to the contest and so be it. If a Designer feels there is an issue PM the other designer and diplomatically deal with it, and/or report issue to the powers that be.

Well if it is hidden people can still click and read it. If it was important why would it be hidden in the first place? Make it like you had before you can't delete it being a host or designer only a mod. And add a report button. The hide button feature is far better function then a mod intervention so far and less time consuming waiting too.

Definately out of control...and highly unprofessional.

The comments in the Destiny contest are way out of hand.Maybe part of the problem is that there are no real clear guidelines on what is "allowed" and expected of people in the main Contest comments area. Maybe a set of guidelines that could easily be referenced by the comment post pages would help.

I think at least a "report post" feature would be nice. Although that would take some intervention from 99designs to come in and look at the post.It would be nice if the CH could be trusted enough to moderate the comments in their own contest.

Certainly something needs to be done about comments, we have been trying to find the right answer before committing to something. Frankly, I didn't like the old hide message feature, it was mis-used a lot to hide important comments.
