Prevent Copying (very simple method)
SImple.
Give only CH right to view designs in FULL SCREEN,
while designer can only see thumbnails (maybe even smaller than those now).
I've seen far too many times here when someone get 4 or 5 stars rating ,designers after that specific 4 or 5 star entry, suddenly change their design start "borrowing" elements from other entrant.
Any1 who entered more than 20 contest here and got 4 or 5 stars knows what i'm talking about.

I'm with you on the copying problem Dawson and you know my stance on this :-) it's getting worse - new designers don't know the rules and copy anything to get awarded 4-5 stars, Contest holders asking other designers to copy elements from other entries etc., I've already commented in a couple of other posts here about this problem, and I'm really not sure what the solution is. :-(

Thanks Nadia, hope this will not go unnoticed.
Obviously new designers don't read contest rules and neiter do contest holders.
This will also prevent ch's to "ask" designers to copy some1 else elements because designers won't be able to see other entries.I hope 99designs will give it consider it!

Other contest sites don't allow the contest holders to ask for elements from another designers entry. I think if the rules are clearly laid (maybe like 3 bullet points) on on the comments page right above where you type your feedback (instead of on a link at the bottom of the page that noone might read) then Contest Holder's will know what's expected of them.

As a CH, I'm always looking at every entry and determining what I like/don't like about a particular entry. If I see something that I like about one entry, I'll ask the entrants to add that specific feature to theirs, not to just go out and copy.

I think this would be a great idea to go with. I've done several contests on worth1000.com and they have a very different method where the designer can't see any of the cmpetition until the contest is closed. You'd be surprised to see how different ideas can come up. This method gives designers a glimps/color scheme, but that's it. Good idea I hope they think about it

Mainero: I completely agree with you. Why do we need to even see other entries anyway? Even being able to see the other’s entries begs people to cheat. If someone is not talented enough to come up with their own work, don't participate. Make work available for everyone to view after the contest. If someone elects to look, then they forfeit their opportunity to participate in the contest.

Yeah terrible but truth. Im currently on one contest atm, got 5 stars and others started as u told ""borrowing" elements or design ideas... It really pisses me off. Im giving 3 votes and hope will see this feature soon on 99design.

All though I am a strong supporter of this idea it also has happened to me
But this idea would encourage people who rip templates and contest holders won't have any idea. Most Designers Instantly know when they see a template. And that might give cheats an advantage over actual designers. And believe me there is a lot of people who do it
