Should have a friend list
Maybe we can have a friend list in our message sections and should be able to add any designer as a friend or some thing.

Penflare, everyone knows you want a friends list, You made up the darn idea. As to my previous comment (couple months ago) Professionality is the thing that I admire the most from these design sites. But you know what I guess it does not matter to others.

This seems like a completely legitimate and positive way to go in 99designs' evolution.
Since, i doubt, many of us here are master designers with a $100,000 firm waiting for us, it would allow us to communicate with peers and spread knowledge. (i.e. "That's a cool 3d effect LKJDF, how'd u do that?" "Well..." etc.)
How about a "send invite" and "accept/deny" procure, so cred doesn't matter.

Yeah its a great idea but there should be some sort of rankings.......lemme explain...
For Example : a designer should only be able to add friends if he had won let say 5 contest minimum ..............which will make a community between professionals only.......so it will remain a designers contest site not a community site in the future.....

I like this idea only if it will stop the pointless garbage/fights and cheerleading that comes from the peanut gallery. Yes we get it people your all friends spoon in PM.

scorpion, i would refer to a credible source as someone stating that the logo has already been produced, or it would not look decent on b&w.. etc..

In addition, it's the reason these suggestion threads exist, so 99Designs can hear what others have to say to better their business. So in short, Yes, I do think it plays a part (even if the part is merely suggestive & small)

you don't think so? And how does one measure the credibility? By how many contests the one commenting on anothers work has won them self? Isn't a logo based on attracting others? Meaning a CH may value outside opinion rather than there own, which may be bias to begin with?
As a business owner I like to listen to what people think, it's how one betters a business & delivers a consumers wants.

I think the bigger issue that needs to be dealt with is duplicate accounts stemming from the same IP address personally. That would eliminate banned designers from signing back up under a different name as well a designers having multiple accounts for manipulation purposes. I'm not totally opposed to the buddy list Idea, I just think more thought should go into actual needs before adding it.

it sounds good in theory, but wouldn't that also encourage outcasting of other designers struggling on the threads to compete? I mean, it's not a big deal to some, i concur, however to others they seem to get frustrated when you have several designers competing & then have 1-10 other designers pointing out one design out of 100 encouraging the ch to pick it because they are friends.

The real problem lies though which is that a couple of buddied up designers start praising only eachother on the discussion board to make up CH's mind and the same goes for defaming. Is there anything that can be done about defaming or people using multiple nicks to do so>?

This would be so nice, especially to origanize messages and look at the contests they worked on as well as easier way to send them messages.
