bring back coded category!
I feel this site will gain alot more traffic if you bring back the coded section. I like the designers here, but I feel i need to work behind the scene of 99designs if I want to take a mockup further into coding.

I would buy code!

@ Mr.T thank you for the link.
I guess Nadia and lacklan have a point here. There are some complications that would have to be worked out regarding the details. Many CH's are oblivious when it comes to understanding difference between mockup and coded site. and Many CH's might also get ripped off with sloppy/buggy coding because of this. Hmmm....

If you see a contest where the CH doesn't understand the difference between coded and design contest, make sure you point this out. I've seen many designers enter a contest not even knowing whether it's a design or coded contest - they just don't ask and enter anyway - that's their risk, they should know better. A CH who isn't into webdesign - won't know the difference unless they are told.

I'm with Lachlan on this one, it has to be thought out and planned extremely well. I've seen some code that is produced and there is no way that I would submit that code to a contest holder, others wouldn't care what type of code they produced as long as they got paid.... continued.......

We are not prioritizing the issue because we have other issues to address first that are of much higher impact. This is certainly something we want to do, but we want to do it well, which isn't easy to do in context with the current site.

BTW proratebiz it may get more support than you know, I posted this same thing awhile ago and it was removed by a monitor saying something to the effect that they aren't fixing this for now. Which means they really don't want us to vote on things and give opinions? Sorry for the rant, I didn't know where else to express this!

It would better if 99designs would explain in more detail when the CH sets up a contest in the first place that there is no code here! Just saying that "We don't provide the infrastructure for coding" (listed in the guidelines for CH) is not that obvious to a lot of CH's who come here thinking they are getting a more complete website. Words like coding and html are confusing to some.

It feels like 99designs is ignoring this issue for a number of reasons. I just had a problem with a CH not realizing that the code wasn't included, until the night the contest ended. As soon as they realized the code was seperate they took there business elsewhere. This is a big loss for us here. I understand there is a difference between the design and the code however a lot of CH's do not.

@ proratebiz:
This uservoice thing doesn't seem to be working! I prefer a dedicated forum on SP forums to feature suggestions.
Anyway here's the link to the marketplace:

i was just about to start a topic for this. im surprised this has not received much support, atleast from the contest holders.
BTW, where is this marketplace link you are referring to?

I think there should be a section for coded designs, but it needs to be handled a little differently that in earlier times. If you look at the web design contests, you'll see that many CHs want a fully functioning website. I don't know how many CH I've had to refer to the marketplace link to find a coder after they pick a design. Many just cancel the contest instead because it is too much trouble

Mr. T
99designs is about design and should remain so, IMHO. I suggest that a section coding be opened in the marketplace, not 99designs itself.
Just my two cents...
