I agree with the extension, but when a CH gives 4 or 5 stars to a design and doesn't award a winner, something is a miss. Too many times this happens. How can you rate designs with 5 stars and not award a winner? Doesn't add up, at least ethically.
I've gotten paid for my 3 winning contests, unforuntately, I've been in at least 3 or 4 where numerous good logos were produced, the CH liked them, and then just abandoned the contest. On top of that, I currently have a CH using my logo which he never paid for so pre-paid contests have to be a MUST on 99 Designs.
All design firms ask for money up front before doing any work.
Sometimes a CH can just steal ideas generated from a contest, allowing them to make any changes necessary so the actual design isn't stolen. This has got to stop. You can't go to a design firm and have a logo created without paying first, that's just the way it is for this very reason.
I just got ripped off. I entered a contest but the CH didn't award a winner. However, I just found out today he's using my logo on his site without paying me.
I've had a change of heart recently. My last 3 or 4 contests have been over for nearly 2-3 weeks and no winner has been announced. Unfortunately, I'm a frontrunner for 2 of those contests but it doesn't look like I'll get paid.
I've also been in a contest that was abandoned. Just a waste of time. CH should have to pay in advance, just like any design company requires before working.
What if a CH doesn't like any of the designs that were submitted and the contest ends? I do not think the CH should be forced to accept a design they do not like.
The only way around this would be to allow the CH to extend the contest "free of charge".
If you pre-pay for something, you better get what you paid for. That's all I'm saying.
I'm not a big fan of this because it might hurt new members just joining 99 Designs, however, if this were to happen, I think it HAS to be based off a ratio.
