This seems like a completely legitimate and positive way to go in 99designs' evolution.
Since, i doubt, many of us here are master designers with a $100,000 firm waiting for us, it would allow us to communicate with peers and spread knowledge. (i.e. "That's a cool 3d effect LKJDF, how'd u do that?" "Well..." etc.)
How about a "send invite" and "accept/deny" procure, so cred doesn't matter.
Wish I could vote more... Forums would be incredibly useful for our community. From general rants about web/logo/print design to discussing a specific ch that got under everyone's skin. It would bring everyone together in a way that would make a community of learned individuals rather than rivals. (fyi, flames are an inevitable fact of the web.)
Like, along with friends list. Both would work well; maybe in a stumbleupon kind of way (ie. become 'watchers' of anyone, but require a friend-back to become actual 'pals')
Probable... but I think this should only work if it incorporated a voting feature by all those who submitted designs to the contest. Say, if 70% said the CH was unfair then it would count as a strike. Otherwise this could get just downright mean, especially with the amount of immaturity already seen on 99d.
disagree... how do distinguish between the thousands (at least) of profitable designs from one another. Copyright infringement would run rampant w/ ppl saying they placed it on the site before another, followed by ppl replying with 'created by' dates of illustrator files. Logistical nightmare. Sounds easy enough (and a really good idea) in principle, but implementation is another thing...
